The Resilience Theory is a strength-based approach that focuses on providing supports and opportunities promoting success despite adversities. The Resilience Theory says the risk factors that are detrimental to the development of youth has been identified…the combination of being poor, living in violent communities, and single parent homes increases the probability of dysfunction. Now let’s introduce the children to an environment or protective factors or safeguards that give him/her the ability to resist stressful situations. We utilize family, friends, and community leaders to introduce youth to protective factors with the intent to keep them in school and out of the system. We help him establish his "Village!"
